UNFPA and UNODC have jointly launched a photography contest on the occasion of the International Youth Day which happens to be on August 12. The purpose for this contest was to provide young people with the opportunity to tell stories through their lens on the challenges, the synergies and the dynamics between “young people and the older persons”. By the set deadline a total of 149 submissions were received. Consequently, 30 best pictures were shortlisted 15 among which an esteemed judging panel composed of UNFPA Head of agency, UNODC Head of Agency and UNIC Head of Agency and two renowed artisits Hady Sy and Elie Bakhaazi, selected 3 top winners in addition to a public vote winner.
To mark the International Day for Older persons, the 30 shortlisted pictures were displayed in a photo exhibition during which the winners were announced.
