Since 2008, UNFPA has been leading the implementation of a project aiming at mainstreaming and institutionalizing Gender Based Violence (GBV) in national planning and development, with the support of the Government of Italy. The project specifically aims at developing performance and quality standards and protocols; identifying needs and gaps in referral, resources, and research; strengthening of coordination and knowledge sharing; supporting to the establishment of a monitoring system; as well as contributing to national advocacy efforts for ending violence.
In this context UNFPA finalized four national studies on GBV in March 2011: a Situation Analysis in GBV in Lebanon; an Assessment of Media Coverage of GBV issues in Lebanon; a Review of GBV Resource and Training Material in Lebanon; and a Review of GBV Research in Lebanon. Issue 2 of TANSEEQ for Ending GBV in Lebanon newsletter was also issued.
The studies were launched on March 10, in presence of national stakeholders and media. The meeting discussed evidence and recommendations generated by the studies. The event was also be the occasion to commemorate the International Women Day. Executive summaries of the studies can be accessed under "Publications"
