On October 19, UNFPA Lebanon collaborated with the Lebanese Society for Obstetrics and Gynecology (LSOG) for organizing a roundtable on “Media Approach to Women Health Issues” with the objective of improving media coverage of women’s health issues in Lebanon. The event was organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of Information.

The event featured interventions from the Minister of Information, the President of LSOG and UNFPA Assistant Representative. All stressed the importance for the media to address women’s health issues, including sexual and mental health, in a comprehensive manner and to provide better analyses of the factors that positively or negatively affect the health of women. The event called on the media to step out from the sensationalist and traditional approaches to women health, and adopt a holistic approach - while relying on reliable, accurate and recent evidence - one that accounts for women health across the lifecycle and plays its role in promoting awareness on various women health issues and rights.
