Let’s Talk Campaign in Lebanon: a New Partnership Established

Planning for the Lebanese version of the Let’s Talk campaign just kicked off the ground. In May 2011, UNFPA Lebanon partnered with MASAR, a local NGO experienced in youth empowerment activities, for managing the campaign, in close collaboration with the national Y-PEER network. A young project coordinator was also recruited in June, to enhance manpower dedicated to such project.

The Let’s Talk campaign is a regional initiative supported by the international fashion retailer H&M and aiming at voicing out youth concerns and aspirations, stimulating debate, creating demand, and raising awareness among young people around reproductive health issues including HIV/AIDS. Capacity development workshops, outreach activities, as well as media and entertainment events will be undertaken to reach out to the youth throughout Lebanon.

A number of Lebanese celebrities and decision makers will be invited to support this campaign. In parallel, an assessment was launched among young people to identify their favorite music, TV, media, sports, and fashion icons. The results of the survey will determine the celebrities who will be approached for involving them in the campaign.
